Fixes: #24315
C++ modules have two variants which are of importance to CMake:
- `CXX_MODULES`: interface modules (those using `export module M;`,
`export module M:part;`, or `module M:internal_part;`)
- `CXX_MODULE_HEADER_UNITS`: importable header units
Creating C++ modules or partitions are *not* supported in any other
source listing. This is because the source files must be installed (so
their scope matters), but not part of usage requirements (what it means
for a module source to be injected into a consumer is not clear at this
moment). Due to the way `FILE_SET` works with scopes, they are a perfect
fit as long as `INTERFACE` is not allowed (which it is not).
Rename the booleans 's_ErrorOccured' and 's_FatalErrorOccured' to
's_ErrorOccurred' and 's_FatalErrorOccurred', respectively.
Rename the getters and setters to 'Get[Fatal]ErrorOccurred' and
'Set[Fatal]ErrorOccurred', and fix all uses across the codebase.
Previously, different versions of VS Generators checked whether a target
was in .sln file or not by checking whether the target was to be written
to build system or not.
As we move `ZERO_CHECK.vcxproj` to `.proj`, we want to exclude those
files from being written to `.sln` files too. This commit introduces
`IsInSolution()` at `cmGlobalVisualStudioGenerator` level which can be
customized at specific versioned Generator when needed.
Since commit f47b4f68a9 (Drop Visual Studio 7 generator for VS .NET
2002, 2016-03-10, v3.6.0-rc1~268^2), the `WriteTargetDepends` method has
not been used.
Changes in cmVisualStudio10TargetGenerator::Generate to write .Net
SDK-style project for VS generators VS 19 and above. Also adds
documentation and tests.
Issue: #20227
Most calls to `MaybeConvertToRelativePath` use one of our common work
directories (e.g. top of the build tree) as the local path. Add helpers
for each of the common cases to simplify and clarify call sites.
cmGeneratorExpression::Evaluate is a shortcut when only the evaluated string is
needed or an instance of cmCompiledGeneratorExpression cannot be cached.
Fixes: #19686
Provide a standardized way to handle the C++ "standard" headers
customized to be used with current CMake C++ standard constraints.
Offer under directory `cm` headers which can be used as direct
replacements of the standard ones. For example:
#include <cm/string_view>
can be used safely for CMake development in place of the `<string_view>`
standard header.
